| Our hotel is in an excellent location in the Maxvorstadt, the university and museum district of Munich. The Fürstenstraße is a quiet little street bordering to the old city center. In only few minutes’ walk you can reach the centre of the City and very important artistic, scientific and cultural institutions like the Ludwig-Maximilian University, the Technical University, the Bavarian State Library and the Bavarian State Archive as well as the Art Academy and the Max-Planck Research Centre. Above all you will find, not far from the hotel, Munich’s most famous museums like the Old (classical art) and the New Pinakothek (19th century paintings), the Pinakothek of Modern Art and the recently inaugurated Brandhorst Museum. Nearby are also the Lenbachhaus Museum, the Collection of Greek and Roman Sculptures (Glyptothek), the Ancient Art Collection (Antikensammlung) and the modern Art museum (Haus der Kunst). In the next months two new institutions will open their doors in our district: the Collection of Egyptian Art (Ägyptische Sammlung) and the University for Film and TV. Also political institutions like the government departments for internal affaires, finances and agriculture, the Bavarian State Chancellery and the US Consulate General are situated just around the corner. To reach the underground stations of Odeonsplatz and Feldherrnhalle, which mark the beginning of the lively pedestrian zone, you’ll have to walk just five minutes from the hotel. From here you can also reach the Residenz, the old seat of the Wittelsbach dynasty with the precious Hercule’s Hall or the Cuvillées Theatre. Only some minutes walk and you’ll get to the Opera or to the elegant Maximilianstraße, the exclusive shopping street in Munich. From the hotel you can reach in about 15 minutes the world known Hofbräuhaus and the city centre with its square Marienplatz. In the neighborhood of the hotel you’ll find several art galleries and libraries. Also the gastronomic range will exceed your expectations. An impressive number of restaurants have settled in the district offering cuisines of any kind and tradition. If you are fond of jogging and long walks you can easily go to the English Garden situated just beyond the Ludwigstraße. If you would like to enjoy Munich night life do not miss the Schwabing district with its attractions. At a 100 m walk, at the corner with Amalienstraße, the bus 100, coming from the central station, will take you to the above mentioned museums. The bus operates every 10 min during the day, every 20 min during the night. |
